So many beautiful memories to the end of our 2022-2023 season! We had some great new members join our small club and our training improved for our Green and Beginner Dogs. In early October, we decide to take a small contingent to Purina Farms in Gray Summit.
UFLI Tournament of Champions is always a goal for our club, and we had enough dogs to bring this year, including being able to run in Singles, Pairs and on WTF's Dream Team on Friday.
BUT not everything was rosy. Accel was completely overwhelmed by the noise and environment and Diego decided he really doesn't like jumps at Champs. We were able to pull 3rd place for Diego / Haze and Klepto was able to take 1st place in her Singles division.
Practice and Test Flight for our championships team, however, was a wreck. Dogs ran out of their jumps, passing was not dialed in and we had times all over the map. We did not know what to do and we were out of options to move the dogs around and we had little to no time to make adjustments. Thankfully, we were able to add Push to the championships lineup and we kept our fingers crossed.
Saturday and Sunday were both a blurr... It was an emotional roller coaster ride. Coming into Saturday as First, then on Sunday as Last. Our one goal was to make it to finals on Sunday, but things were looking bleak for the team.
Mid day Sunday, we had some breakdowns and dogs were tired. We looked at the lineup options and the team decided to give it one last push, which ended the day giving us 2nd in our division, fighting for a place in finals.
Our friends from Obsessed K9s pushed us to the edge and we were able to pull off a spot in Finals at the end of the day. We knew that Smokin Guns were faster and seeded first in our division, so we decided to give it all that we had in finals and let the cards fall where they would.... And we were able to pull it off.. Division 7 Champions 2023!
